ACTIVITY

Now it is your chance to try the NetAdventure Estimator Simulation for fractions. Try the game and post your scores that you had at each of the eight levels. Each level gets progressively more challenging! Say something about what you had to think about to determine the location of the fruit and how the method differed from that used for integers and decimals.

Clue 1

This game keeps getting harder as you get better. This version concentrates on the art of estimation with fractions. First giving you scales that start with mixed fractions only on the top and zero on the bottom. But once you can estimate those, it gives you scales with increasingly more difficult denominators that are not multiples of two, have scales that include negative fractions, and then improper fractions.

Clue 2

Since the simulation is set to place the fruit randomnly, try the levels again to see if you can improve your score. Was it easier the second time around? Why? Which game was the most difficult? integers? decimals? fractions? Which game taught you the most? Why?
